What Is a Heavy Series Pipe Tube Clamp?

Definition: A Heavy Series Pipe Tube Clamp is a heavy-duty pipe/tube support clamp built to DIN 3015 Part 2 — the standard governing high-load, high-vibration clamping of hydraulic pipe and tube. Like the light series, it uses a twin-half polymer clamp body on a steel weld plate (or rail / bottom plate), closed with a cover plate and bolt. The difference is in the proportions: the heavy series body is taller and thicker, the plates and bolts are larger, and the assembly delivers far higher clamping grip force — securing pipe against the intense pressure pulsation and vibration found in high-pressure hydraulic circuits, large-bore pipe runs, and heavy machinery up to 600 bar (8000 PSI) and 406 mm OD.

The heavy series is selected wherever the standard light series cannot provide enough grip force or fatigue resistance — high-pressure pump and press lines, large-diameter pipe, and applications with severe shock and vibration. The polymer body still damps vibration and protects the pipe surface, but the heavier section resists the higher loads without loosening or fretting.

Heavy Series Size Groups (DIN 3015 Part 2)

Heavy Series clamps are organised into size groups — each group shares a common weld plate, cover plate, and rail dimension, so clamps for different pipe ODs in the same group mount on identical hardware. The heavy series extends to much larger pipe diameters than the light series.

Why Choose TES-LOK Heavy Series Pipe Clamps?

🛠 DIN 3015 Part 2 Compliant

Clamp body, weld plate, cover plate, and rail dimensions are manufactured to DIN 3015 Part 2 — fully interchangeable with standard heavy-series clamp hardware from any DIN 3015 supplier, simplifying procurement and spares.

💪 High Grip Force for HP Lines

The taller, thicker heavy-section body and larger bolts deliver the grip force needed to hold high-pressure hydraulic pipe (to 600 bar) against severe pressure pulsation — preventing pipe walk, loosening, and fatigue failure on press and pump circuits.

🌪 Vibration Damping & Pipe Protection

The polymer body grips the full pipe circumference, absorbing high vibration instead of point-loading the pipe. This prevents fretting, abrasion, and fatigue cracking on heavy machinery — extending hydraulic line life and reducing structure-borne noise.

📏 Large-Bore Capability

The heavy series extends to 406 mm OD — far beyond the light series — supporting large-diameter hydraulic and process pipe that standard-duty clamps cannot carry. Ideal for big-bore pipe racks on heavy plant and marine installations.

✅ Full Hardware Material Range

Weld plates, cover plates, rails, and bolts in zinc-plated carbon steel for general service, or SS 304 (A2) and SS 316 (A4) for corrosive, marine, and washdown environments. Body grades cover PP, Polyamide, conductive PP, and aluminium.

🌟 Complete Clamp Group Supply

TES-LOK supplies the complete heavy clamp group — body halves, weld/bottom plate, cover plate, rail, and bolts — as a matched assembly, or as individual components for spares. ISO 9001:2015 certified with material traceability.

Installation Guide

1
Select the correct group & OD: Match the heavy clamp body bore to the pipe/tube OD and identify the heavy-series size group for the matching weld plate, cover plate, and rail. Confirm body material (PP, Polyamide, conductive, or aluminium) suits the temperature and environment.
2
Mount the base: Weld the reinforced weld plate to the structure, or bolt the bottom plate / mounting rail where welding is not permitted. For high-pressure / high-vibration lines, use closer support spacing than for light-duty runs.
3
Place the lower clamp half: Seat the lower heavy clamp body half into the weld plate / rail nut groove.
4
Lay in the pipe and close: Place the pipe/tube into the lower half, then fit the upper clamp half over it. The two halves should meet evenly around the pipe.
5
Fit cover plate and bolt: Place the heavy cover plate over the two halves, insert the hex bolt, and tighten to the recommended torque for the bolt size. The clamp should grip firmly without crushing or deforming the polymer body.
6
Set support spacing: Install clamps at the recommended interval for the pipe OD and operating pressure. High-pressure and large-bore pipe require closer support spacing to control sag and resonant vibration.
⚠ Do not over-tighten the clamp bolt: Even on the heavy series, the polymer body must grip firmly but not be crushed. Over-tightening deforms the body, reduces vibration damping, and can score the pipe. Tighten only to the recommended bolt torque for the group / bolt size — the clamp halves seating against the cover plate is the correct stop point.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. What is a DIN 3015 Heavy Series pipe clamp?

It is a heavy-duty pipe/tube support clamp built to DIN 3015 Part 2. It uses the same twin-half polymer body + weld plate + cover plate + bolt concept as the light series, but with a taller, thicker body, larger plates, and larger bolts that deliver much higher grip force. It is used for high-pressure hydraulic pipe (up to 600 bar), large-bore pipe (up to 406 mm OD), and high-vibration heavy-machinery applications.

Q2. What is the difference between Heavy Series and Light Series clamps?

Light Series (DIN 3015 Part 1) is standard-duty, with a lower-profile body for general pipe/tube runs up to about 102 mm OD and ~100 bar. Heavy Series (DIN 3015 Part 2) has a taller, thicker body, larger bolts, and higher grip force for high-pressure pipe (to 600 bar), large-bore pipe (to 406 mm OD), and high-vibration applications. Choose Heavy Series when vibration, pressure, or pipe size exceeds standard-duty limits.

Q3. What pressure and pipe size can the Heavy Series handle?

The TES-LOK Heavy Series covers pipe/tube from 6 mm up to 406 mm OD, with working pressures from 100 bar (1500 PSI) up to 600 bar (8000 PSI) depending on the pipe and clamp size. This makes it suitable for the most demanding high-pressure hydraulic and large-bore pipe support applications.

Q4. What clamp body material should I choose for a hot, high-vibration circuit?

Polyamide (PA / nylon) — it handles higher temperatures (+120°C) and greater abrasion and vibration than standard PP. For general service to +90°C, PP is the economical choice. For high-temperature or fire-zone service up to +200°C, use an aluminium body. For ATEX/hazardous areas, specify conductive (antistatic) PP.

Q5. What hardware material should I use for marine or offshore installations?

Use SS 316 (A4) weld plates, cover plates, rails, and bolts for marine, offshore, and coastal outdoor service — SS 316 resists chloride corrosion. SS 304 (A2) suits general outdoor and washdown service. Zinc-plated carbon steel is economical for dry indoor environments. The polymer body is corrosion-resistant; the hardware grade determines corrosion performance.

Q6. How does the heavy clamp protect high-pressure pipe?

The polymer body grips the full circumference of the pipe and acts as a damping interface between the pipe and the rigid structure. On high-pressure lines, pressure pulsation creates intense vibration; the heavy clamp's high grip force holds the pipe firmly while the resilient polymer absorbs the pulsation, preventing pipe walk, fretting wear, fatigue cracking, and noise transmission.

Q7. Can I mount multiple heavy clamps on a single rail?

Yes. The mounting rail option carries a row of heavy clamps along one rail, allowing multiple parallel large-bore or high-pressure pipe lines to be supported on a single welded or bolted rail. This keeps lines organised and reduces the number of individual mounting points on heavy pipe racks.

Q8. Do you supply the complete clamp group or individual components?

Both. TES-LOK supplies the complete heavy clamp group — body halves, weld/bottom plate, cover plate, rail, and bolts — as a matched assembly, or any individual component for spares. We also manufacture the related Light Series, Twin/Double Series, Aluminium, Construction, Multilayer, and Rail-Nut clamp products. See the sidebar for the full range.
