WHAT IS PADDLE SPACER?

Paddle Spacers are circular rings with an optional handle. Paddle Spacers are used in pipeline and is very useful. The dimensions of paddle spacers can be as per ASME B16.48 or as per customer specifications. Tesco Steel & Engineering manufacture a wide range of high quality SS 304 Paddle Spacers in India. What are Paddle Spacers?


A Paddle Spacer is the open half of a Spectacle Blind. It is often made from one solid metal disc and will usually have a thin length of metal attached to one end to be used as a handle. A finished assembly will resemble the shape of a paddle with an opening through its center. The Paddle Spacer is used in place of a Paddle Blind when the piping system is to be put back into operation.

Paddle spacers are bored to the outside diameter diameter of pipe and are of the same thickness as the Paddle Blank it replaces. Spacer flange is machined from a single piece of metal that is cut to match the pipe size, fit between two pipe flanges and requires an additional gasket when it is installed.Spacers and Spades are normally referred to as Line Blinds. which has the similar function as a Spectacle Blind . The Spade or Spacer is fitted in the line between two flanges and is bolted in place. The Spacer is used when the line is required open and the Paddle Blind or Spade is installed when the line is required blocked or closed. To change it from open to closed, only half the bolts need to be removed and the Spade or Spacer is swapped over. The removed bolts are then installed and tightened. The handle protrudes from the pipe and provides an indicator of whether a Spade or Spacer is installed.For smaller Spades and Spacers it is common for the Spacer to have a hole in the handle and the Spade or Paddle blind to have no hole. For larger sizes Spectacle Blinds can be very bulky and occupy a lot of space so spades and spacers are preferred.

Standard materials for our line blinds are SA516 Gr.70, 304 Stainless Steel, or 316 Stainless Steel. Other alloys can be furnished upon request.They are produced in strict accordance with the following codes of practice: ASME B16.48 • ASME B16.5 • ASME B16.20 • ASME B16.47 (For larger diameter flanges)
